Somers resident Andres Mendoza Gomez was arrested on Wednesday, July 17 after allegedly assaulting a victim with a knife at a Somers home, New York State Police announced on Friday, July 26.
According to authorities, at around 12:30 a.m. on the day of Mendoza Gomez's arrest, troopers responded to a Somers home where two people were fighting. After arriving, they found an injured victim outside the home and discovered that Mendoza Gomez had allegedly barricaded himself inside.
Troopers were then able to get Mendoza Gomez outside without injury and determined he had attacked the victim with a knife, causing several cuts, police said.
The victim and Mendoza Gomez were then taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and evaluation, respectively. Once Mendoza Gomez was released, he was arrested and charged with:
- Second-degree assault;
- Second-degree menacing;
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was later arraigned in the Town of Somers Court and remained in Westchester County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $2,500 bond.
